With heat press machines getting cheaper but more technologically advanced by the day, it is no wonder that the hobbyist working with a hand iron for heat transfer, is also looking for a worthy upgrade.

In most situations like this, the requirements are very simple. All they need is an entry-level press with a few bells and whistles attached, if possible, without breaking their bank.

The problem though is that the bigger and more professional machines get all the valuable ‘word-of-mouth’ and advertising space. The hobbyist is often left twiddling their thumbs wondering which model is worthy of their time and money.

Today, we review a versatile machine that is perfect for the budding hobbyist, as well as the weekend crafter looking to go beyond T-shirt printing.

It’s the ShareProfit Swing Away 5 in 1 Multifunction Sublimation Heat Press Machine. With an impressive feature bundle and an entry-level price, it is one of the best machines for beginners.

Our Favorite Features

As it is pretty obvious from the name, this is a swing away heat press, unlike the clamshell heat press, that’s mostly peddled as the Holy Grail for beginners. The most important difference is that the platen swings away giving you more access to the material. Also, it allows you to really be precise with the graphics placement.

Out of the box, it comes almost ready to switch-on and start heat transfer. It is a fully assembled machine and has a very user-friendly design.

The platen is 12×15 inches (Teflon coated) and made of aluminum. Also included in the pack, are 5 heating elements of varying sizes.

So, you have:

• One Hat Press – 6″x 3″ (curved)
• One Mug Press – 3″-3.5″ diameter (11OZ)
• Two Flat Plate presses – 5” and 6” max diameter
• One Removable silicone pad and cotton pad

There’s a control pad with up and down arrow buttons that allow you to set the desired temperature and the time. The temperature range is 32 to 430 F and the timer can be adjusted up to 999 seconds.

An in-built sensor alerts you when the preset temperature is reached and also when the printing process is completed.

To allow unobstructed use, the ShareProfit Swingaway 5 in 1 T-Shirt Press machine has an adjustable height, ranging from 13 1/2″ to 17″.

The package includes an instruction manual, which is very limited in terms of explaining how to use the machine. But there are many videos on YouTube which will give you a good idea of using a swing away heat press machine.

If you have never used one before, it is recommended that you check some of these videos because there may be a small learning curve attached to it.

The ones who are familiar with it, will find that the ShareProfit 5 in 1 is an extremely simple, but efficient heat transfer vinyl machine.

All you need to do, is set up the temperature and the time using the control pad buttons (self-explanatory), attach the correct press that you want to use and then go ahead and print it. Unlike a clamshell machine, there is no risk of accidentally burning yourself since the platen swings completely out of the way.

A 2 4/5″ Long arm handle allows a firm grip while you are working.

Also, the cap-press attachment does not require special Teflon sheets while printing.

What we liked

You don’t always need to spend $$$ and buy a Hotronix. Not if you are using heat transfer to make t-shirts for your son’s baseball team or for the local cooking club. Here’s why the ShareProfit 5 in 1 is a great entry level heat press machine.

What we didn’t

Despite all the positive reviews that the ShareProfit Swing Away 5 in 1 has garnered, it does have one very apparent flaw that has been mentioned in unambiguous terms by some of the customers.

• It has a constant beep sound when the desired temperature is achieved. A few people have mentioned that even pressing the ‘Enter’ button, does not kill the sound. It goes on beeping until you start the countdown process. Whereas, a few other customers have mentioned that the sound can be switched off with the press of a button.
• Customer service is only available on email.

The Verdict

With more than 88% positive reviews on Amazon, this is a complete  value-for-money package. Is it the best machine that you can buy? No. But if you are starting off or looking to upgrade from a hand iron, this best heat press machine will be a great buy!
